MASS FOLLOWERSHIP KILLS INDIVIDUALITY - IT KILLS YOU!

"Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid." 

Crowd mentality, Herd mentality, Mob mentality and Pack mentality, also lesser known as Gang mentality, describes how people can be influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors on a largely emotional, rather than rational, basis. 

That is one major problem with us in Africa and more especially with Christians (Church goers) in Nigeria. I have always hated the term "the masses". So, I tend to dissociate myself from anything that has to do with the masses. Mass transport, mass feeding, mass education, mass skill acquisition, etc. Being uniquely you is the backbone of your individuality. It's what separates humanity from robots or from animals. Everybody must learn to think for themselves. It's this herding that has brought us to the state we are in. 

Notice that God does not recognize herd decisions or mass appeal. We erroneously believe that the will/voice of the people is the voice of God. THAT IS NOT TRUE! Probably sometimes the people may fall into agreement with God's move. But the people do not dictate what God will do or say. In fact, God will judge people individually, not in groups. Like denominational groups. So on that day it'll be about what you did with your talent and not how you helped grow another person's talent. 

Have you noticed that the elites of every group (pastors, elders and deacons in a church or government officials and leaders of society in government) NEVER refer to themselves as masses? Do not be quick to dance to another person's music. The fact that someone paid the piper does not necessarily mean that the piper is bound to play his tune. 

Break off from having your life determined by other people's opinion. Determine for yourself all the salient issues of human life. Determine for yourself if you must vote for a particular popular candidate. Determine for yourself if having a facebook account is for you. Determine for yourself if scraping off your eyebrow is in line with your personality and style. Determine for yourself if following fashion trend of wearing torn clothes is for you. Determine for yourself if blind followership is beneficial to you. 

Do not be a MASS. Do not be a robot - a child of society. Strive to retain your personality and individuality. Be yourself. Be comfortable in your skin. 

NB: Your, little yet DISTINCT, mark on the annals of history is of greater value than your slavery on the podium of mass initiatives.
