GAIN AND LOSS!
STORY TIME:
One of my clients just told me a story I will like to share with you. Please pay attention as there are lessons to be gleaned from this real life story. But for privacy sake I will change some of the facts, (like names, etc), but the gist remains true!
So, Mr. Callistus walked into my office this morning (basically 1 hour ago) bemoaning his fate.
Oga Callistus: Emma, witch they work oh?
Me: How do you mean sir?
Oga Callistus: hmmmm. Dem dey worry! If not for the prayers I do every night, wahala wey I for dey eeehn.
Me: hmmm
Oga Callistus: You know that my secretary.
Me: Miss Kelechi
Oga Callistus: Yes. See the kind of wahala she wan bring come my side after God don finally answer my prayer.
**** Background story on Miss Kelechi ****
Barely a week passed, Oga Callistus reemployed Miss Kelechi to work for his company. He is a Contractor and for a while he has not been getting any jobs. His company XYZ Nig. Ltd. is a registered contractor for a big oil conglomerate. Economic melt down got him on a prayer/war part with the witches that ate fighting his success.
Miss Kelechi was his administrative secretary. In charge of a lot of things including paying salaries, representing Oga Callistus, procurement, and attending to clients at the office. Eventually she left to join a rival company when things took a slow turn and Oga Callistus could not pay her for one month.
Her foray with the rival company eventually went belly up and she ran back to Oga Callistus when she heard that things had started looking up for XYZ Nig. Ltd. So she is just one month reemployed and I know that Oga Callistus reinstated her and promptly paid her the one month salary he was owing her (N130,000 - for real).
***********************************
Oga Callistus: You know I got two jobs from that oil company and then the other road work I was pursuing that finally worked out.
Me: Yes sir!
Oga Callistus: My brother I sent her to go to one of the sites to pay the workers there, their August salary/wage.
Me: hmmm
Oga Callistus: Can you imagine that she got there and fought!
Me: Fought? As in fighting?
Oga Callistus: My brother, see me see wahala! She fought the project supervisor who happens to be the girlfriend to one of the Directors of the oil company.
Me: What?
Oga Callistus: The man called me and accused me of not wanting to pay his people. That he would make life hard for me. I just they beg am, say I go settle every misunderstanding. E no gree.
Me: Have you called the girl in question, that is the Project Supervisor to apologise?
Oga Callistus: She no gree pick my calls. I have asked Kelechi to stop work for now until I sort this whole thing out. I even warned her to be careful. Just go, ascertain the number of days and pay them. She went to put sand sand for my garri.
*************The End**************
Here are my thoughts:
1. Appreciate what you have lest you lose it.
2. Listen to instruction.
3. If God lifts you up, don't let it get to your head.
4. Your helper can be anywhere, Even the person you are helping.
5. Brothers and Sisters, all fingers are not equal. Everybody is not the same. Treat people well, you may end up entertaining angels.
6. Opportunities comes once. But sometimes we get a second chance. If you waste that too, the probability of a third is really slim.
7. Sometimes the witch you are fighting is yourself.
8. Once bitten, twice shy. People rarely change. A disloyal person can easily stab you in the back.
9. Forgive but by all means do not forget. The lesson you gain from an incident can save your life and job.
10. Fight pride! Oga Callistus was lowly enough to beg and plead. Miss Kelechi was too high strung to do same.
